State-run Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. said it will seek an operation and maintenance service contract for the 150 megawatt-Casecnan Multi-Purpose Project.

PSALM said in a statement the move would ensure the operations of the CMPP’s irrigation component and the power plant feature once the ownership of the CMPP is turned over to the government in December.

“PSALM intends to begin the procurement of the OMSC by the second week of September through a competitive public bidding process,” PSALM president and chief executive Irene Besido-Garcia said.

The agency said the National Irrigation Administration agreed to allow PSALM to be the one to procure the OMSC. PSALM, with the concurrence of the Department of Finance and the Department of Energy, will undertake the procurement of the OMSC pursuant to Republic Act No. 9184 or the Government Procurement Reform Act.

PSALM will then work on the terms of the privatization of the CMPP through public bidding.
