Aboitiz Power Corp. plans to construct 600 megawatts of renewable energy projects this year as part of its expansion program, a top executive said over the weekend.

“We are bullish about the accelerated growth of renewable energy in the Philippines. Aboitiz Power is well positioned to support this growth through our pipeline of RE projects,” Aboitiz Power president Emmanuel Rubio said.

“This year, we are set to begin the construction of 600 MW of RE projects,” he said.

Aboitiz Power’s 10-year growth strategy aims to contribute to a more reliable, cost-efficient and sustainable power system for the country.

The company, with a projected investment of around P190 billion, the company is looking to grow its RE capacity to 4,600 MW, which will make up 50 percent of its total generation portfolio of 9,200 MW by 2030.

It plans to develop more solar and wind power plants in Pangasinan, such as the 167-megawatt peak Laoag solar project in Aguilar.
