2 solar companies eye dedicated power lines

Two power companies asked the Energy Regulatory Commission to approve point-to-point infrastructure to connect their wind farms with a combined capacity of nearly 100 megawatts to the Luzon grid. Alternergy Sembrano Wind Corp. sought an approval to develop point-to-point limited distribution facilities to connect the 81-MW wind plant to the 115 kV Malaya-Teresa line.ASWC plans to start operations of the wind project in the second half next year.ASWC said the Sembrano wind farm under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 must enjoy the benefit of priority dispatch as a generating unit utilizing an intermittent renewable energy source.
ASWC said it would develop and construct a dedicated point-to-point facility connecting the Sembrano wind farm to the Luzon grid through Meralco’s 115 kV Malaya-Teresa line.Philippine Hybrid Energy Systems Inc., meanwhile, sought approval to develop, own and operate a dedicated point-to-point limited transmission line to connect the 16-MW PHESI wind farm to the 69 kV line of National Power Corp.
