SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp., the country’s largest steel manufacturer, has commissioned its first solar rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system at its Meycauayan plant in Bulacan in partnership with TotalEnergies ENEOS.

The company said on Tuesday that the 1.9-megawatt peak (MWp) solar system, consisting of over 3,200 solar modules, is expected to generate approximately 2,700 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity annually.

The transition is part of SteelAsia’s broader decarbonization strategy, which integrates renewable energy across its operations.

To date, its Calaca green steel manufacturing plant and Compostela, Cebu, rolling mill are already powered by geothermal energy.
