The Blue Circle (TBC), a leading renewable energy company in Southeast Asia, signed an agreement with Goldwind International Philippines Inc. and Goldwind International Renewable Energy Ltd. to supply, commission and service the turbines for its 100.8-megawatt Kalayaan 2 wind power project in Laguna province.
The wind farm represents a major addition to The Blue Circle’s growing portfolio of renewable energy assets and its first project in the Philippines.
It will be one of the largest wind farms in the Philippines upon completion, consisting of 17 wind turbines, with a capacity of 6-MW each, supplied and installed by Goldwind.
The world’s leading wind turbine manufacturer will also service the turbines for 10 years.
The Kalayaan 2 wind project is set to start commercial operations by mid-2026.
“The 100.8-MW wind farm will provide a significant source of clean electricity to the Philippine grid, helping meet the country’s increasing power demand in an environmentally sustainable manner,” TBC said.
TBC said the Kalayaan 2 project aligns with the Philippines’ ambitious renewable energy targets outlined in its National Renewable Energy Program, which aims for 35-percent renewable energy generation by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040.
It said teaming up with Goldwind on the wind farm reinforces its commitment to accelerating the transition to sustainable energy sources across Southeast Asia. The signing ceremony took place on April 22, 2024.
TBC, founded in 2013, identifies, develops, finances, owns and operates renewable energy projects in the Asia-Pacific region.
It uses the most advanced technology to build responsible and sustainable projects. It has offices in Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Phnom Penh and Manila whose team is committed to changing the world “one green electron at a time.”
