State-run Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. said it postponed again the bid submission deadline for the privatization of the 650-megawatt Malaya thermal power plant and its underlying land in Pililla, Rizal to Sept. 23 from Sept. 3 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
PSALM also moved the issuance of the notice of award to Oct. 14 from Sept. 30 and the submission to the Philippine Competition Commission to Nov. 4 from Oct. 21.
The agency rescheduled the issuance of the certificate of effectivity of the asset purchase agreement with the winning bidder to Nov. 26 from Nov. 11 and the closing date of the sale to Dec. 16 from Nov. 25.
Three companies earlier expressed interest to participate in privatization of the Malaya power plant, including AC Energy Inc., Panasia Energy Inc. and Denki Power.
The Malaya power plant is being dispatched as a must run unit by grid operator National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
