Prime Solar Solutions Corp. (Prime Solar), a subsidiary of Prime Infra, has officially energized its photovoltaic (PV) plants in Tanauan, Batangas, and Maragondon, Cavite, adding a combined 128 megawatts of clean, renewable energy to the grid. This milestone brings Prime Infra closer to its goal of addressing the demand for stable power while supporting the transition to sustainable energy sources.
“Both the Tanauan and Maragondon plants recently commenced operations, advancing Prime Infra’s broader strategy of harnessing renewable energy sources to meet the growing demand for stable power supply,” said Guillaume Lucci, President and CEO of Prime Infra.
The Tanauan plant successfully connected to the New Milagrosa 115 kV Switching Station on 1 October, while the Maragondon plant linked to the 115 kV TMC-2 substation on 10 October. These connections have integrated both plants into Meralco’s power grid.
Prime Solar has a 50-megawatt, 20-year power supply agreement with Meralco, while the remaining output is supplied to the grid.
Meralco recently issued the Final Certificates of Approval to Connect (FCATC) for the Tanauan and Maragondon plants. These certificates were submitted to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) as the final step in securing the Certificate of Compliance required for full commercial operations.
Together, the Tanauan and Maragondon PV plants supply up to 128 megawatts of clean, renewable energy. This capacity powers over 84,000 households and is expected to displace more than 100,000 tons of coal annually.
“Reaching this milestone with Prime Solar highlights our ongoing commitment to creating a cleaner, sustainable future. Our investment in renewable energy not only meets immediate needs but also supports long-term growth with environmental sustainability at its core,” Lucci said.
Energy Undersecretary Rowena Guevara earlier recognized the Prime Solar project as a significant contribution to the national government’s transition to a clean energy future. The project supports achieving the renewable energy program target of 35 percent in the generation mix by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040.
