The National Electrification Administration (NEA) reported on Friday that power in Albay had been 98-percent restored after Typhoons Rolly (international name: Goni) and Ulysses (Vamco) struck the province late last year. The latest monitoring report of the NEA Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department showed that as of January 21, the Albay Electric Cooperative Inc. (Aleco) had restored electricity to 170,560 out of the 197,878 households affected. Aleco, which is operated by the Albay Power and Energy Corp., said efforts to restore power in 2,755 households were ongoing, while 24,563 others couldn’t be reconnected yet as these were declared “totally or partially damaged.” In terms of area, fully restored were Legazpi City, Ligao City, Camalig, Daraga, Guinobatan, Manito, Polangui, and Santo Domingo; while partially restored were Tabaco City, Rapu-Rapu, Jovellar, Oas, Pio Duran, Bacacay, Libon, Malilipot, Malinao and Tiwi.
