PetroEnergy Resources Corp. (PERC), through unit Petrowind Energy Inc. (PWEI), is finalizing the selection of a contractor to build the 14-megawatt Nabas 2 wind project in Aklan before making a final investment decision.
“We are close to finalizing our selection of our EPC contractors for Nabas 2,” said PetroEnergy vice president Francisco Delfin Jr.
PWEI won the contract to supply the Visayas grid with renewable energy capacity from its 13.2-MW Nabas 2 wind project during the Green Energy Auction Program held last month.
In 2020, the Department of Energy awarded PWEI the certificate of confirmation of commerciality to Nabas 2, which means the project is feasible. Meanwhile, it commissioned the Nabas 1 wind facility in 2015 with an output 36 MW.
It consists of 18 wind turbine generators supplied by Gamesa and erected at elevations of 300-500 m in the foothills of northern Aklan, straddling the municipalities of Nabas and Malay.
