Power transmission operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines set an operations and maintenance budget of P66.64 billion from 2022 to 2040.
NGCP said its O&M capital expenditure programs would increase the grid’s reliability and improve the transmission system and facilities throughout the country for reliable, adequate, secure and stable service to users of electricity transmission systems nationwide.
NGCP said in its Transmission Development Plan for 2022 to 2040 that the 19-year O&M program would cover installation, replacement, rehabilitation and relocation of high voltage equipment, acquisition, installation and replacement of protection and secondary devices, repair of transmission lines and sub-transmission lines.
It also includes the acquisition and replacement of test and measuring equipment, tools and maintenance vehicles, acquisition of spares for HVE, transmission lines and secondary devices and construction and rehabilitation of substation and support facilities.
NGCP is allocating P34 billion for substation reliability projects, including P23.154 billion for asset replacement, P2.050 billion for compliance with standards, P3.6 billion for technology installation and P5.213 billion for resilient operation.
NGCP identified and proposed risk reduction programs to ensure the grid’s reliable operation during disastrous events in line with the Department of Energy’s initiative on adopting Resiliency Planning and Program.
Meanwhile, NGCP is allocating P12.28 billion for transmission reliability projects. These projects include replacing line-associated high voltage equipment, secondary devices and other accessories classified as transmission assets.
NGCP said it identified transmission line assets that needed rehabilitation, including major works such as the replacement of steel poles, cross-arms, insulators, conductors, etc., due to length of service, natural wear, and tear and exposure to the harsh environment.
NGCP is mandated to maintain, operate, expand and improve the high voltage backbone transmission system and facilities throughout the Philippines.
