NEXGEN Energy Corp. said on Monday that the Board of Investments (BOI) had granted Green Lane certifications to four wind energy projects of subsidiary Airstream Renewables Corp.
The certifications were awarded last Friday for Airstream’s 200-megawatt (MW) Pandan Labayat Wind Farm, 2,000-MW Real Offshore Wind Farm, 300-MW Silang Maragondon Wind Farm and 300-MW Mauban Offshore Wind Farm, all located in Real and Mauban towns in Quezon province.
NexGen said the certifications would allow Airstream to avail of expedited, streamlined and automated processing and approval of permits and licenses.
The company earlier announced it was investing P300 billion in the four projects in line with the government’s initiative to promote strategic investments in the country.
NexGen said that Airstream had conducted technical, environmental, and social studies, including wind resource assessments for the four projects, even before the issuance of the Green Lane certifications.
The issuance of the certifications “gives opportunities for Airstream Renewable Corporation and us to have bigger roles towards promoting clean energy in the Philippines … The critical task ahead for us now is to ensure that these wind farms will start commercial operations soon,” NexGen President and CEO Eric Peter Roxas said.
NexGen shares slipped 3.24 percent, close at P1.79 apiece on Monday.
