Nestlé taps AboitizPower to supply renewable energy to Batangas plant

NESTLé Philippines Inc. has tapped Aboitiz Power Corp. to supply renewable energy (RE) to its manufacturing facility in Lipa, Batangas.
“The partnership between AboitizPower and Nestlé Philippines is a testament to the shared commitment of both companies to continually look for better and sustainable solutions to reduce their carbon footprint and protect the environment in a more sustainable manner,” Nestlé Philippines Technical Director Peter Winter said.
The partnership was formally sealed on May 3.
Under the partnership, Aboitiz will source RE from the MakBan Geothermal Power Plant of AboitizPower subsidiary, AP Renewables Inc. (APRI).
Antonio R. Moraza, president of AboitizPower, said AboitizPower’s balanced-mix portfolio guarantees consumers have reliable, ample and reasonably priced power for their needs.
“With the portfolio we have and our commitment to sustained growth, we believe Nestlé and all our other customers can be served well,” Moraza said.
APRI President Felino Bernardo thanked Nestlé Philippines for sharing AboitizPower’s commitment to clean and RE.
“We value our partnership with Nestlé as we share the same passion to do better than the ordinary to provide our customers with quality products and services,” Bernardo said.
He added both Nestlé Philippines and AboitizPower strive to operate business responsibly and ensure their practices are environment-friendly.
AboitizPower and its partners have a net sellable capacity of more than 1,200 megawatts (MW) from its RE portfolio of geothermal, hydro and solar power plants located all over the country. It is continuously building up its RE portfolio through ongoing projects, like the 69-MW Manolo Fortich run-of-river hydro project in Bukidnon and the 8-MW Maris Canal hydro project in Isabela.
AboitizPower is currently commissioning its first biomass-power plant through subsidiary Aseagas in Batangas.
On April 27 the company celebrated the successful restoration of its 6-MW binary plant at the MakBan facility. The binary plant maximizes the excess steam from the primary power plant to produce additional capacity of clean and RE.
