The National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) in Region 4-A has signed up for the “Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic for Government Buildings Project” or the RGB Project of state firm Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC).
The RGB Project is a key initiative of PNOC aimed at reducing electricity consumption in government facilities through the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
PNOC and Neda recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to signify their commitment to sustainable energy solutions in line with the country’s broader energy goals and climate change mitigation efforts.
The project will begin with the installation of solar PV systems at Neda’s facilities in Region 4-A. Additional MOAs with other government agencies are expected to follow, said PNOC. “PNOC’s role is to support the energy transition agenda of the Department of Energy, particularly promoting energy efficiency among government entities.
Rooftop solar PV systems in government owned buildings is one of the services PNOC will be providing aside from demand aggregation and smart air condition technology,” PNOC President Oliver B. Butalid said in a statement.
Neda Region 4-A will benefit from the cost savings and improved energy management that the RGB project promises.
“I hope this partnership is only the start of more partnerships not only in Neda but to the whole of Calabarzon as well,” said Neda Assistant Secretary Agnes E. Tolentino.
Butalid and Tolentino signed the MOA last August 27, PNOC said in a statement on Wednesday.
PNOC and Neda Region 4-A are confident that their collaboration will set an example for other government agencies, showcasing the benefits of transitioning to renewable energy solutions.
