MANILA Electric Co. (Meralco) is targeting to supply electricity to Isla Verde by the end of September. “We are targeting end of September,” Meralco Senior Vice President Alfredo Panlilio said in a text message to The Manila Times. Panlilio added Meralco is finalizing the leasing agreement and waiting for the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (ERC) approval to operate 32-kilowatt (kW) solar panels and a 192-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery storage facility. Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga said Meralco has already laid the groundwork for the power facility both for Isla Verde and Cagbalete Island. “In Isla Verde, Meralco distribution facilities are already in place including poles and lines,” Zaldarriaga told The Manila Times. “Meralco is also already coordinating with the communities and guiding those who already applied for our service on the proper procedures to begin the energization,” he added. Shares of Meralco dropped P6.80 to P351.20 each.
