Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) presented a comprehensive development plan that will support the power requirements of the existing and future projects of Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC).
This will ensure the timely delivery of reliable electric services to the latter’s commercial and residential developments, it said.
Among those set to be energized by Meralco are Sierra Valley in Rizal and The Jewel in Mandaluyong City which are both slated to be operational by 2026.
“We are excited to partner with Meralco to further our mission of promoting sustainable development. This partnership will enable us to provide our customers and residents with energy-efficient solutions that are both environmentally friendly and economically viable,” RLC president and chief executive Lance Gokongwei said.
“Together, we are not only reaching significant milestones but also paving the way for future innovations and growth. Our commitment to excellence and sustainable development reaffirms our shared vision for a brighter, more resilient future,” said Gokongwei.
Meralco and RLC’s partnership has spanned operational efficiencies and sustainability initiatives in the past five years. These include the solar photovoltaic installation for Nustar Resort and Casino through the utility’s solar company, MSpectrum.
RLC also tapped Meralco’s sustainable mobility arm, Movem, for the installation of the electric vehicle charging stations in several Robinsons Malls in 2022.
RLC is also part of the government’s interruptible load program where 10 Robinsons Malls in Meralco franchise area take part in demand-side management when power supply situation in Luzon is insufficient.
Through this, RLC — which has a total de-loading capacity of 31 megawatts — helps spare households and small businesses from unplanned power interruptions.
“Meralco and RLC’s fruitful collaboration over the years take centerstage in our business review session. Aside from providing world-class and innovative energy solutions, our goal is to assess progress, identify areas for enhancement, and strategically align efforts towards shared success,” said Meralco senior vice president and chief revenue officer Ferdinand Geluz.
Meralco also committed to investing in projects that contribute to ensuring that the infrastructure to support the government’s nation-building efforts are in place. This is in line with the government’s socio-economic agenda, particularly energy security and infrastructure development.
“It is our mandate as the country’s largest distribution utility to provide utmost support and deliver exceptional service to our customers to drive success for businesses and communities, which play a significant role in propelling our growth as a nation,” Meralco executive vice president and chief operating officer Ronnie Aperocho said.
