Renewable energy developer Solar Philippines Commercial Rooftop Projects Inc. is embarking on six large-scale ground-mounted solar projects with a combined capacity of 4,400 megawatts, latest Department of Energy data showed Tuesday.
The department has given SPCRI the go-signal to conduct a grid impact study on solar projects in Cavite, Nueva Ecija, Batangas, Zambales and Tarlac provinces.
These include the 200-MW Maragondon-Naic Tanza 2, 1,200-MW Sta. Rosa Nueva Ecija 2, 1,200 MW Iba-Palaluig 2, 600-MW Balayan, 1,200 MW Iba-Palauig 1 and 150-MW Tarlac.
Solar Philippines is expected to complete 400 megawatts of solar projects those year, including projects in off-grid areas.
“Among the projects that we are completing and constructing already now, we’re looking at 400 MW by the end of this year. Tarlac, Cavite, Batangas, and our smaller distributed projects totaling 400 MW of total installed capacity,” said Solar Philippines president Lean Leviste earlier.
