Hedcor Bukidnon, a unit of Aboitiz Power Corp., signed a supply agreement with Surigao del Sur 1 Electric Cooperative Inc. (Surseco) 1) that will diversify the cooperative’s energy supply.
Hedcor Bukidnon will supply two megawatts of clean and renewable energy to the electric cooperative’s customers in 2018.
Surseco 1 general manager Joceler Moralda represented the electric cooperative while Rolando Pacquiao, Hedcor vice president for operations and maintenance, signed for the power generation company.
“We take pride in adding AboitizPower’s Cleanergy to our energy supply mix. Like them, we also believe in balance. We are confident that by having a reliable partner like AboitizPower, we will continue to provide efficient electric service to our members-consumers, and to continue to support economic development in our franchise areas” said Moralda.
Surseco 1 is serving 138 barangays from the municipalities of Lingig, Bislig, Tagbina, Barobo, Hinatuan, Lianga, and San Agustin in the province of Surigao del Sur.
Surseco 1 is the seventh electric cooperative to choose Hedcor’s renewable energy in Mindanao. Hedcor was also the power generator of choice of Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperatives 1 and 2, Zamboanga del Norte Electric Cooperative, Misamis Occidental I Electric Cooperative, Siargao Electric Cooperative, and Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative.
Hedcor operates 22 hydro power plants in the country—five in Davao City, four in Davao del Sur, 11 in Benguet, one in Mountain Province and one in Ilocos Sur. These power plants produce a combined 185 MW of renewable hydro power energy.
The 69-megawatt hydro power facility of Hedcor in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, meanwhile, is set to begin its commercial operations either in late 2017 or early 2018.
