FORMER ENERGY Assistant Secretary (ASec) Leonido J. Pulido III has been elected to lead the Philippine Electricity Market Corp. (PEMC) as its president, the company said Tuesday.
Mr. Pulido “was elected PEMC President. He is not new to the industry having served as an Assistant Secretary at the Department of Energy (DoE),” the PEMC said in a statement.
Mr. Pulido, a lawyer, is also an electric vehicle advocate, the company said.
“I am confident that with the support of the PEM Board, the PEMC Officers, and the wealth of experience and knowledge of the men and women that make up PEMC, I will be able to perform my duties as PEMC President,” Mr. Pulido was quoted as saying.
The PEMC, which mainly serves as the governance body of the wholesale electricity spot market, also recently elected a new roster of sectoral and independent directors who will serve on the board for three years.
Fifteen members representing the generation, private distribution, public distribution, supply sectors as well as the market operator, system operator and independent segments were elected to the board.
