First Gen Corporation and ArthaLand Corporation have sealed a power supply agreement for the latter’s premium real estate property development in Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Lopez firm First Gen will be supplying the electricity requirements of the building via capacity generation from its Pantabangan-Masiway hydroelectric facility in Nueva Ecija.
The parties-in-interest have not given details on the volume of contracted power for the Arthaland building, the cost of electricity purchased and the duration of their agreement.
The ArthaLand venture in BGC will be its ArthaLand Century Pacific Tower (ACPT), which has been conceptualized and designed as a top-end green building development in the country. First Gen, on the other hand, has always been touted as “the greenest energy company” in the Philippines as its portfolio just comprises of the cleanest energy technologies – renewable energy like hydro, wind and solar; then gas on the fossil fuel side.
In a statement to the media, ArthaLand noted that even at its construction phase, ACPT has already been a recipient of the “Best Green Development” and had also been conveyed the Best Office Architectural Design in the Philippine Property Awards.
For many property developers in the country, “the green concept” is still a fledgling option – but these two companies consider themselves as ‘green building’ pioneers.
As noted by First Gen Chairman Federico R. Lopez, “one of the core principles that guide our business is that progress doesn’t need to come at the expense of our health, the environment and the future of the next generations.”
He thus asserted that “by partnering with an organization that embodies the same principles is a big step in making sustainability a way of life for every business.”
Leo T. Po, treasurer and executive vice president of ArthaLand, noted that for their company “sustainability has become more than just a corporate social responsibility concept for us…it has become a mission to leave a blueprint of future-proofing in every premium-grade structure that we build.”
He added that part of such mission “is to use clean and renewable energy and reduce our environmental footprint,” and Po qualified this is concretized through their power supply deal with First Gen, with him stressing further that they are “truly a perfect match because we share the same values and the same commitment to the preservation of the environment.”
