FGEN LNG Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of First Gen Corp., said Wednesday it selected the local unit of New Zealand infrastructure company McConnell Dowell as the preferred contractor for the engineering, procurement and construction of its interim offshore liquefied natural gas terminal in Batangas City.
First Gen said in a disclosure to the stock exchange the construction phase of the IOT Project could begin in the fourth quarter or once FGEN LNG’s preparations were complete, including the design and implementation of enhanced work and safety protocols and procedures.
The IOT Project will allow FGEN LNG to accelerate its ability to introduce LNG to the Philippines as early as the third quarter of 2022, to serve the natural gas requirements of existing and future gas-fired power plants of third parties and FGEN LNG affiliates.
“This was a difficult decision that has been reached after the completion of an extensive tendering process, but we are delighted to announce that we have selected McConnell Dowell as the preferred tenderer for the First Gen’s IOT Project,” said Jonathan Russell, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of First Gen.
