FDC Green Energy Corp. of the Filinvest Group is developing an 11.5-megawatt solar power project within the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental province.
The industrial estate is one of the country’s major economic zones which will soon have access to renewable energy.
FDCGEC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of FDC Utilities Inc., the utility arm of listed Filinvest Development Corp.
“Filinvest was awarded by the Department of Energy a solar energy operating contract to develop an 11.5-MWp solar power project within the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate that can operate for 25 years. Filinvest will earmark over half a billion pesos for this investment,” said FDCUI and FDCGEC president and chief executive Juan Eugenio Roxas.
“With this project, PIE MO can attract more locators actively seeking alternative energy sources to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” Roxas said.
FDCGEC registered as a PHIVIDEC locator to kickstart the project’s permitting process.
“This is a very timely project given the different challenges climate change brings. Moreover, it is in accordance with the thrust of President Marcos’s administration to shift towards alternative clean, renewable energy,” said PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate administrator Joseph Donato Bernedo.
