Northern Palawan Power Generation Corp. is seeking an approval from the Energy Regulatory Commission to develop a dedicated point-to-point limited transmission facility to connect the 145-megawatt peak Cawag solar power project to the Luzon grid.
NPPGC, a subsidiary of Emerging Power Inc. (EPI), plans to connect the solar plant to the 230 kV Subic (Hanjin) Substation of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP), with motion for provisional authority.
“To help the need for additional RE capacity, NPPGC will develop, own, operate and maintain the Cawag solar power project with a capacity 145.007 MWp/120.600 MW located in Barrio Cawag, Redondo Peninsula, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Subic, Zambales,” NPPGC said.
NPPGC expects the construction and installation of the transmission facility to cost P1.188 billion.
“The grant of NPPGC’s application to develop, own, operate and maintain dedicated point-to-point limited transmission facilities is consistent with the mandate of the government to make the use of RE resources a national priority pursuant to the country’s declared policy as stated in energy laws and issuances,” it said in a regulatory filing.
