The National Electrification Administration (NEA) said Monday the initial cost of damages incurred by affected electric cooperatives (ECs) due to Typhoon “Paeng” has reached P7.4 million.
The agency said 96 ECs were placed under different tropical cyclone wind Signals. Based on the latest NEA Power Monitoring Report (NEA-PMR), 35 of the 96 experienced partial power interruption. Of this figure, 45 are now in normal operation, three are still without power, while 13 ECs did not submit reports.
“The initial damage cost is estimated at around P7,421,980.63 from 12 ECs,” NEA said.
These are Abra Electric Cooperative (ABRECO), Pampanga II Electric Cooperative Inc. (PELCO II), Marinduque Electric Cooperative Inc. (MARELCO), Zambales II Electric Cooperative Inc. (ZAMECO II), Romblon Electric Cooperative Inc. (ROMELCO), Tablas Island Electric Cooperative Inc. (TIELCO), Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative Inc. (CASURECO II), Aklan Electric Cooperative Inc. (AKELCO), Northern Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. (NONECO), Samar II Electric Cooperative Inc. (SAMELCO II), Leyte V Electric Cooperative Inc. (LEYECO V) and Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative Inc. (PROSIELCO).
AURELCO, NEECO II-Area 1, and BISELCO are still without power.
Thirty five ECs are experiencing partial power interruption.
The NEA has instructed the affected ECs to submit damage and power situation reports including the schedule of partial and complete electric service restoration to consumers.
In the National Capital Region, the Manila Electric Co. (MERALCO) reported that the number of affected customers is now down to 52,337. Majority of them are still in Cavite, and Laguna, and the rest are in parts of Bulacan, Rizal, Metro Manila, Batangas, and Quezon.
Meralco has recorded momentary and sustained power interruptions affecting a total of 4,002,292 customers across its franchise area.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), meanwhile, reported that the La Trinidad-Sagada 69kV Line, Cabanatuan-San Luis 69kV Line, Pitogo-Mulanay 69kV Line are still not yet available.
NGCP said it has deployed 35 line gangs comprised of almost 300 personnel and four choppers to inspect and assess the impact of the tropical storm to its operations and facilities. Aerial inspection and simultaneous restoration activities are being conducted in areas already accessible.
