DOE Task Force report on ways to reduce electricity prices

After more than six months of meetings, the Multi-Sectoral Task Force to Find Ways To Reduce Electricity Prices that was convened by the Department of Energy finalized its summary report and scheduled a Hand-Over Ceremony to the Honorable Secretary of Energy Carlos Jericho Petilla on December 2, 2014. That event however was cancelled.

On January 13 the DOE Task Force Secretariat issued a “Final Task Force report”. An “8th Task Force Meeting” was schedule for January 27 which then was reset for February 2, 2015. It was announced that this will not push through because the “Task Force Secretariat will be needing more time to complete the requirements in drafting the responses, strategies, deliverables, and timeline to address the recommendations from the Final Report of the Task Force”.

While waiting, we are posting for the benefit of our members and consumers of Meralco a copy of the Final Report. Note that this is currently being updated with additional comments from the multi-sectoral members.

We will post the updated one when we get it and inform you when the final hand-over to Energy Secretary Petilla will finally take place.
