The Energy Investment Coordinating Council led by the Department of Energy has issued a certificate of energy project of national significance to Total Power, Inc. for the pre-development stage of its 100-megawatt solar project in Sarangani province.
The issuance of the CEPNS is mandated under Executive Order 30, signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in June last year, which created the EICC to streamline the regulatory procedures affecting energy projects of national importance.
“The EICC, through DOE as the lead agency in the implementation of E.O. 30, is pleased to inform you that your application for the declaration of your project, the 100 MW TPI Sarangani solar power project, has been approved,” EICC head of secretariat and DoE director Patrick Aquino said in his letter to TPI president Jack Tan.
Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi signed the on December 20. The CEPNS for pre-development phase carries with conditions and rights, such as action on the application within 30 working days and presumption of prior approval.
