The SIS will determine the capacity of the power grid to accommodate additional capacities and identify necessary improvements needed such as transmission lines, transformers or substations.
It issued clearance to Haraya Wind Energy Corp. for its 1,215-megawatt Negros Occidental offshore wind project in the Visayas and Liwanag Energy Corp.’s 316.54-MW Burgos 2 solar project in Burgos, Pangasinan.
The other endorsed projects are CapitalOne Davao Solar Inc.’s 40-MW solar project in Digos City, Davao del Sur; and 39-MW hydro project of FGen San Isidro Hydro Power Project in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental.
The remaining projects which received clearance are AP Renewables Inc.’s 20-MW Bay battery energy storage system in Bay, Laguna; and the 416-MW solar project of Opus Solar Energy Corp. in Paoay, Ilocos Norte.
This brought the total SIS endorsements to 66 since January 2024, composed of 63 renewable energy projects and 3 BESS projects.
The DOE said it continues to woo investors to invest in the power industry to meet the country’s growing demand.
