The Energy Department may defer the implementation of the commercial operations of the new market management system for Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, an official said Friday.
The DOE is supposed to simultaneously transition the Luzon and Visayas wholesale electricity spot market to the new market management system.
The NMMS will pave the start of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market in Mindanao.
“We won’t be able to go live. We don’t have the approval of the PDM (price determination methodology) yet. [DOE] will issue a statement on the deferral of the commercial operationa of NMMS for Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao,” Energy Assistant Secretary Redentor Delola said.
The agency had planned to launch WESM Mindanao on January 26.
“The standing order of the department is to conduct commercial operations by January 26, 2020. We will actually issue a department circular commencing the operations of WESM. The issues that are pending right now is first the approval of PDM, price determination methodology-pending with the ERC,” Delola said earlier.
