ACEN Corp. and its joint partner installed 14 wind turbines with a capacity of 5 megawatts for the 70-MW Capa wind project in Caparispisan, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte which it targets to complete this year.

“This is ACEN’s fourth wind farm in the province. Once operational, Capa Wind can supply 217 gigawatt-hours of clean energy annually to help augment the much-needed capacity in the Luzon grid,” ACEN said.

ACEN, through subsidiary Capa Wind, signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Technology (SGRE) for the supply and installation of 14 wind turbines for the project.

ACEN said the project would help deliver its supply commitments under the first round of the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP).

ACEN owns an 81-percent economic stake in the project, with Diamond Generating Asia Ltd. holding the remaining interest.

The Capa project supports the government’s aim to increase the country’s renewable energy share to 35 percent by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040.
