Santa Cruz Solar Energy Inc., a unit of AC Energy Corp., is set to complete the 280-megawatt San Marcelino solar power project next year and has sought approval to connect the plant to the Luzon grid.

SCSEI asked the Energy Regulatory Commission to approve its application for an interim connection to the Luzon grid through the 500 kilovolt-Heromasa-Castillejos line, pending the construction and completion of the 230-kV Castillejos substation.

The company initially sought to develop a dedicated point-to-point facility to connect its solar plant to the Luzon grid via the proposed Castillejos substation of National Grid Corp. of the Philippines.

SCSEI said the 230-kV Castillejos substation has no firm completion date.

“This is the most convenient and economical connection that is feasible and available when the plant becomes operational in 2023, given that the NGCP’s target for completion of the 230kV Castillejos substation and related transmission facilities is set to 2024,” said the company.
