Emerging Power Inc. (EPI), the energy company of Nickel Asia Corp., has clinched a deal to provide supply to two retail electricity units of Aboitiz Power Corp.

EPI, through its subsidiary Northern Palawan Power Generation Corp., signed a supply agreement with AdventPower Inc. and AdventEnergy Inc.

For this fresh round of power contracts, EPI said the electricity would be sourced from Phase 1 of its Cawag Solar Power Project at the Subic Freeport Zone in Zambales.

The Cawag solar park is rated at a maximum potential output of 70 megawatts (MW).

According to EPI, the electricity would be sold to AdventEnergy and AdventPower’s clients in the commercial and industrial sectors, comprising around 500 business facilities.

“The deal strengthens the long-term partnership between EPI and AP, reflecting their shared vision of contributing to the national grid and advancing the country’s clean energy and decarbonization goals,” EPI said.

Nickel Asia Corp., the country’s largest nickel ore producer, has also been growing its renewable energy portfolio, which includes solar, wind and geothermal assets.

Last August, the group said EPI remained on course to hit its target of achieving a 1,000-MW target by 2028 with more plants coming online.

Switching on

NAC noted that in 2025, two solar projects would be switched on—the Subic Cawag project and Phase 1 of its San Isidro solar park.

AdventEnergy earlier said that it was gearing up for P1.8 billion worth of projects next year. AboitizPower first vice president and head of retail James Yu said the projects are expected to have a combined capacity of 50 MW to 60 MW.

AdventEnergy is the largest retailer group with more than 500 business facilities across the Philippines that rely on its energy solutions for their energy needs.

Last February, community shopping firm WalterMart renewed its retail energy supply deal with AboitizPower, through AdventEnergy, which would power 26 of its facilities across Luzon.
