THE National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) received three certifications from the British Standard Institute (BSI), reflecting the grid operator’s commitment to be on a par with international quality management standards.
The certifications awarded this month to NGCP are the ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management and 14001:2015 for Environmental Management, and OHSAS 18001:2007 for Occupational Safety and Health. The three standards comprise an Integrated Management System (IMS) certification that integrates an organization’s processes and creates a unified system with a single goal of improving the performance, effectivity and efficiency of the entire organization.
“Bestowing NGCP with these ISO certificates from a prestigious ISO Certification body such as BSI is not only a great honor, but it also comes with a responsibility to continually improve our systems, processes and services,” the NGCP said.
As the sole transmission provider of the country, the NGCP places premium on the quality of service it provides the public, while minimizing the impact of its operations to the environment and retaining its commitment to zero harm for all employees and external stakeholders.
The NGCP is also embarking on a corporate-wide quality assurance program, putting in place layers of quality assurance processes, such as Incoming QA, In Process QA and Final QA, which are systematically conducted and designed to meet or exceed the standards set by the company.
The IMS certification comes after the company was awarded Employer of the Year by the People Management Association of the Philippines in October.
“These EOY Award and ISO certifications are a recognition of our hard work and commitment to employee welfare and talent development for EOY and quality and efficiency of service for the ISO certifications,” the NGCP said. “There are big challenges still ahead of us. We need to sustain the changes we have done and continue to provide innovative solutions to our people and to our customers.”
The NGCP is a Filipino-led, privately owned company in charge of operating, maintaining and developing the country’s power grid, led by majority shareholders Henry Sy Jr. and Robert Coyiuto Jr.
