The World Bank will finance the feasibility study for the rehabilitation of the 982-megawatt Agus-Pulangi hydro power plants in Mindanao, National Power Corp. president Pio Benavidez said Thursday.

“The World Bank will finance through grant, the feasibility study,” Benavidez said, adding that the study was ready to be implemented.

Benavidez said Napocor would provide counter funding for the Agus-Pulangi feasibility study that was expected to take one year.

He said the feasibility study would determine how to conduct the rehabilitation of the hydro plants, which would be needed prior to privatization.

He said the options would include increasing the rated capacity, safety and security of the plant and improving the water efficiency.
Benavidez said the government was looking at other multilateral agencies to finance the actual rehabilitation program.
