Vena Energy, one of Asia’s largest independent power producers, is building a 304-megawatt wind project in Northern Samar with potential investment of P19 billion.

Vena said in documents submitted to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources the Gemini Wind Power Project (Gemini WPP) offers long-term solutions to the country’s perennial shortfall in electric power supply and supports the objectives of the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 to accelerate the exploration and development of RE resources.

“As a major entrant in the still-developing wind energy industry, the Gemini WPP aims to help strengthen local expertise and capability through technology transfer, build domestic capacity, and promote the diversification of the country’s energy industry,” the company said.

Vena is building the wind farm through its special purpose vehicle Gemini Wind Energy Corp.
