THE  Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) announced last Tuesday it will put up new substations within several Ayala Land Inc.’s (ALI) developments particularly for Circuit Makati and Parklinks Estate facing Quezon City and Pasig City.

Currently, Meralco has six existing substation facilities serving ALI estates. The real estate giant consistently provides a substation lot provision for its developments, “allowing Meralco to energize projects in an efficient and timely manner.”

According to Meralco, the project is also aligned with the Marcos administration’s current priorities under the socio-economic agenda, particularly energy security and infrastructure development.

“In ALI, we are very fortunate that we are able to sell the product on the strength of the brand. That promise comes with a lot of responsibility and for us to be able to carry this out, we need partners,” ALI President and CEO Anna Ma. Margarita B. Dy was quoted in a statement. “I cannot overemphasize the importance of Meralco to our commitments to our customers—whether these are communities that are starting or communities that are already thriving.”

According to Meralco, “this undertaking solidifies its strong partnership with ALI, which both aim to help bolster the economy.

“Meralco’s long-standing collaboration with ALI resulted in many successful endeavors over the years. With the upcoming projects involving the construction of substations, ALI will enable us to fulfill our commitment in helping our communities grow by providing reliable and adequate electric service to more customers,” Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Ferdinand O. Geluz said.

Meralco earlier reported the completion of major distribution network projects in the first half of the year. These are the new gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) Pallocan West Substation in Batangas City and the expansion of the Eton Centris’s 115-kiloVolt (kV) to 34.5-kV GIS substation in Quezon City.

Meralco also completed the following: the development of a new control house with switchgear room at the Novaliches Substation; the replacement of the 34.5-kV Switchgear No. 1 at Meycauayan Substation in Bulacan; and, the development of the Napindan 115-kV switching station in Taguig City.
