DOE endorses 19 power projects for grid study

The Department of Energy (DOE) said over the weekend it endorsed to the transmission operator 19 power projects for system impact study in April 2024, composed mostly of solar projects.
“In April 2024, the DOE issued 19 SIS endorsements to the NGCP (National Grid Corp. of the Philippines) which are all new applications,” the department said.
The projects were issued clearance to undertake SIS to the NGCP to determine the capacity of the power grid to accommodate additional capacities and identify necessary improvements needed such as transmission lines, transformers or substations.
These projects include 131.78-MW Bay 2 floating solar project of Nortesol IV Inc. in Bay, Laguna; 303.8-MW Kalayaan 4 wind energy project of Viento Energy 2 Corp. in Quezon province; and 160-MW Angat optimization project of San Roque Hydropower Inc.
Other endorsed projects are the 140-MW Ingrid 2 floating solar plant of Ingrid 2 Power Corp. in Laguna de Bay; 20.23-MW Taft solar project of Taft Solar Energy Corp. in Eastern Samar; 131.78-MW Bay 1 floating solar project of Newasia Power Energy Corp. in Laguna de Bay; and 180-MW Bluefin solar project of TPI Azimuth Corp.
The DOE also granted approval for the conduct of SIS to the 196.7-MW Daanbantayan solar project of Freya Renewables Inc. in Cebu; 100-MW Albay wind project of Pacific Impact Energy Corp. in Guinobatan, Albay; 100-MW Infanta-Dasol wind project of First Gen Visayas Energy Inc. in Pangasinan; and 211.5-MW Burgos 1 solar project of Linang Energy Corp. in Pangasinan.
It also endorsed four wind projects of Envision Energy Philippines Corp., namely the 150-MW Bais wind project in Negros Oriental; 190-MW Gubat wind in Sorsogon; 200-MW Calabanga wind project in Camarines Norte; and 200-MW Lavezares wind project in Northern Samar.
The other endorsed projects are the 90.31-MW Fuego solar power plant and 108-MW Pagbilao floating solar plant of Fuego Renewable Energy Corp. in Quezon province; and 71.99-MW Botolan solar power plant of Iligan Solar Inc. in Zambales.
