First Gen Corp. said Monday it awarded a contract to Shell Eastern Trading (Pte.) Ltd. for its first liquefied natural gas cargo following a successful international tender.
First Gen also announced the completion of the berthing of the BW Batangas floating storage regasification unit vessel at subsidiary FGEN LNG Corp.’s interim offshore terminal project in Batangas.
The company said it awarded the contract to Shell Eastern LNG on July 7 for the supply of one LNG cargo equivalent to 154,500 cubic meters for delivery from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, 2023 to First Gen’s wholly-owned subsidiary First Gen Singapore Pte. Ltd.
First Gen said the LNG cargo to be provided by Shell Eastern LNG would be delivered by an LNG carrier which would facilitate the gassing-up and cooling-down of the BW Batangas FSRU and transfer the LNG cargo into the storage tanks on board the BW Batangas FSRU at Subic Bay.
The BW Batangas will then return to the FGEN LNG Terminal in Batangas to complete commissioning activities.
First Gen’s gas-fired power plants in Batangas City would use the LNG as fuel.
