Four subsidiaries of Aboitiz Power Corp. (AboitizPower) have been granted ISO 55001:2014 certifications for Asset Management.
Davao Light and Power Co., Visayan Electric Co., Cotabato Light and Power Co., and Subic EnerZone Corp. were the first power distribution utilities (DUs) in the country to be certified with an international standard that attests to the efficiency of how they manage the lifecycle of their assets.
According to AboitizPower, “the certification verifies the effectiveness of the DUs’ respective processes and operations in implementing, maintaining, and improving the performance of their assets—including power lines, transformers, and substations—thus helping strengthen the uninterrupted provision of electricity.”
“This is another example of our dedication to better serve our customers and stakeholders; that we are responsible custodians of our assets to truly drive value for them,” AboitizPower Distribution Utilities Chief Operating Officer Anton Perdices said.
The four DUs also have certifications in ISO 9001:2015 or the Quality Management System (QMS), ISO 45001:2018 or the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and ISO 14001:2015 or the Environmental Management (EM) System.
AboitizPower said excellent asset management is essential for DUs to successfully manage their infrastructure and optimize maintenance and costs, thereby ensuring regulatory compliance and a reliable bridge between transmission lines and businesses, communities, and homes.
The DUs, it added, underwent a rigorous audit conducted by DQS Certification Philippines, an external certifying body, thoroughly examining their respective processes and operations, both internal and external.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) council is the main governing body responsible for awarding the certification, while DQS, or the Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung von Managementsystemen, is the certifying auditor.
“This is truly a milestone for AboitizPower, being the first distribution unit in the Philippines to be certified,” DQS Managing Director in the Philippines Romero Zamora said.
