Aboitiz Power Corp. is set to start construction of a 94-megawatt solar project in Cayanga, Bugallon, Pangasinan as part of its renewable energy expansion program.
“For our 94-MW (DC) solar project in Cayanga, Bugallon, Pangasinan, the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) tendering process is in final stages and the target notice to proceed is in the first week of December 2021,” Aboitiz Power president and chief executive officer Emmanuel Rubio said during the DOE Investment Forum.
The solar project is expected to be commercially operational by the fourth quarter of 2022, he said.
Rubio said Aboitiz Power also recently completed the commissioning of two wind met masts in Pangasinan for a possible project in the area.
“Through these met masts, we are currently gathering resource data such as the temperature, wind speed, and wind direction, among others. This is to estimate energy production and understand the suitability of the site. We expect to complete met masts for three more sites this year,” Rubio said.
