Excellent Energy Resources Inc., a unit of SMC Global Power Holdings Inc., is building a 1,700-megawatt combined cycle power plant in Barangay Dela Paz and Ilijan in Batangas City with investments of about P67.863 billion.
Documents filed with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources showed that EERI proposed to construct and operate a re-gasified liquefied natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant with a total net capacity of 1,700 MW using highly efficient gas turbine.
The Batangas combined cycle power plant project will be constructed in two phases and each phase will have a capacity of 850 MW in a 40.87-hectare leased area from Ilijan Primeline Industrial Estate Corp.
The project is estimated to be completed in 36 to 40 months, with the first phase targeted to begin construction within the second quarter for completion in the next two years. The second phase is targeted to be completed two years thereafter.
