Manila Electric Co., the biggest retailer of electricity, may conduct a new competitive selection process, or public bidding, on the supply of 200-megawatt peaking capacity with an invitation to bid set to be published in the fourth quarter.

Meralco listed the planned 200-MW peaking plant requirement under its procurement plan covering a contract period from February 26, 2020 to July 25, 2020.

Meralco also listed three more CSPs it planned to conduct, although the dates are still indicative and capacity and type of contract subject to change, “depending on the forecasted demand of captive customers… ”

The company plans to bid out 1,000 MW base load supply to be delivered from August 26, 2025 to August 25, 2045.

Meralco also indicated another auction for 500 MW of baseload capacity from October 26, 2027 to October 25, 2047.

It plans to auction another 600 MW of mid-merit capacity covering December 26, 2023 to December 25, 2044.

Meralco planned to publish the invitation to bid for the three CSPs by the first quarter next year.
