The National Electrification Administration (NEA) announced on Wednesday the appointments of key officials of Isabela Electric Cooperative (ISELCO).

NEA Administrator Antonio Mariano C. Almeda said the Board of Administrators approved the appointments of Atty. Oswaldo Gabat of the NEA Legal Services Office as the new Project Supervisor of ISELCO I and ISELCO II and Atty. Karen Abuan as the Acting General Manager of ISELCO I.

Almeda said his office followed proper and fair selection process and that their appointments were in compliance with the agency’s rules and guidelines in selecting the most competent officials.  He said his office is committed to drive sustainable rural development in the country through creating and maintaining high-performing electric cooperatives.

To achieve this, the NEA chief is soliciting as well the cooperation and support of the electric cooperatives and the different organizations in the electric distribution industry and various consumer groups for a more effective and efficient service to the consumer public. Almeda took his oath of office before Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla last November 17. He served as the deputy executive director of the Joint Congressional Energy Commission, formerly known as the Joint Congressional Power Commission, the country’s primary watchdog in the power sector.

He was actively involved in the formulation of the bill for the Electric Power Industry Reform Act amendments and was also tasked with overseeing the privatization process of the various power plants of the National Power Corp., according to NEA.
