The Energy Regulatory Commission directed distribution utilities and retail electricity suppliers operating under the enhanced community quarantine in the National Capital Region to further extend payment of consumers’ electricity bill until May.

The ERC said in an advisory the payment extension would not carry interest, penalties and charges. It covers bills falling due within the ECQ period of March 16 to May 15.

“The directive on the amortization of payments in four equal monthly installments, payable in the four succeeding billing months following the end of the ECQ shall continue to be observed, but payments thereof by customers in areas covered by ECQ extension until 15 May 2020 shall commence no earlier than 30 May 2020,” the regulator said.
